Disk Encryption for Windows 8 and UEFI Now Supported in BestCrypt Volume Encryption
HELSINKI, Finland - August 28, 2012 - Jetico, pioneer in security software, has announced a useful update to BestCrypt Volume Encryption. The world first native disk encryption software for volumes is now ready for Windows 8, including the ability to encrypt Storage Spaces – a feature coming in the new operating system. Jetico’s leading-edge BestCrypt Volume Encryption now also supports computers that boot according to UEFI specification.
Jetico CEO Michael Waksman comments, "we have received many requests from customers for a disk encryption solution that works on UEFI–based computers. Our response to this request, plus proactively adding support for Windows 8, reflects Jetico’s determination to stay current with the latest industry developments and to continually serve the needs of our customers".
Version 3.5 of BestCrypt Volume Encryption offers the following added features and benefits:
- Support for Windows 8 - once this commercial release occurs, Jetico users can continue to rely on BestCrypt Volume Encryption without interruption
- Encrypt Windows 8 Storage Spaces - BestCrypt Volume Encryption, developed to encrypt any type of disk volume, now works with Storage Spaces (a new capability that can combine multiple hard drives into a single virtual drive) just as it would for a simple disk partition; users won’t need to know anything about complicated disk structures that form Storage Spaces
- Support for UEFI-based computers - allows encryption of boot/system volumes on computers with operating systems loaded according to Unified Extensible Firmware Interface (UEFI); new computers with Windows 8 pre-installed will likely come with a UEFI bootloader
Since the release of the original volume encryption software six years ago, Jetico's BestCrypt Volume Encryption has reliably delivered a user friendly solution for transparent encryption of data kept on both fixed and removable storage devices - from older MS-DOS styled volumes through to modern Spanned, Striped, Mirrored or RAID-5 volumes, and now to the newest Windows 8 Storage Spaces. This updated version promises the same high-powered encryption, with improvements designed to make the software even more adaptable to user needs.
Mr. Waksman adds, "As leaders in volume encryption, the Jetico team is proud to stay ahead of the market. Our users know they can rely on Jetico software to protect their private data, even if computers get lost or stolen."
