BCWipe Tips & Tricks

Transparent Wiping          Enforcer          Misc.

1. How do I configure BCWipe Enterprise to perform predefined wiping tasks at user logoff without user intervention?
a) With BCWipe Task Manager, an administrator creates a set of wiping tasks and exports it to a text file in special format - ‘Pattern Task File'. This text file should be put into a shared network location.
b) Install BCWipe on all the client computers using systems management software (e.g. Microsoft SMS, LANDesk) or manually. During installation the network location is reported as command line parameter and written to registry on the client computer.

That's all. Now the wiping task will be performed on the client computer every time a user logs off. The task is running as a system service, so no user actions are necessary. Users are not even aware of the wiping and cannot interfere with the process.

2. How do I make BCWipe Enterprise write the log file on an administrator computer or on another network location?
The name of the log file is reported in the ‘Pattern Task File'. If it was generated with a local name:
LogFileName=C:\enforcer\enforcer.log

- just open the file and modify the name to the network one:
LogFileName=\\ADMIN_COMPUTER_NAME\c\enforcer\enforcer.log

3. How can I exclude some users from wiping?
‘Patter Task File' has the special field:
[ExcludeUserList]
Write list of full user names below this field:
[ExcludeUserList]

DOMAIN_NAME\USER_NAME
COMPUTER_NAME\USER_NAME

4. How do I temporarily suspend Enforcer functionality?
Just rename the ‘Pattern Task File' (PatternTask.txt) to a different name.
