List of new features in BCWipe v.4

  1. BCWipe v.4 unveils the industry’s first Transparent Wiping feature. When Transparent Wiping is activated on your computer, BCWipe will automatically wipe all contents of any file or folder that is deleted. Transparent Wiping securely deletes the following sensitive information on the fly:

Transparent Wiping is compatible with Windows Recycle Bin and similar utilities. So after activating Transparent Wiping, your Recycle Bin will continue to work normally – except that now when Empty Recycle Bin is selected, all contents of the Recycle Bin will be permanently erased by BCWipe.

Transparent Wiping can be set to work only for specific files, folders or applications (or file/application patterns) by configuring include and exclude lists.

BCWipe provides detailed logging of Transparent Wiping. The log output can be configured and filtered.

  2. BCWipe features Enforcer for centralized control of data wiping. IT administrators can now surgically remove all traces of selected data on any drive in their network. BCWipe Enforcer is compatible with systems management software, such as Microsoft SMS and LANDesk, allowing enterprises to remotely install BCWipe across all workstations and centrally manage data wiping policies. With Enforcer, an administrator can run BCWipe as a system service in Windows to perform wiping tasks remotely without end-user intervention.

  3. NOTE: BCWipe Enforcer feature is available only in Enterprise version of BCWipe

  4. Ability to run wiping tasks by a system service. Automatic (daily, weekly, monthly) tasks are now running by a system service in hidden mode. No messages or progress indicators are displayed, the result of wiping can be checked using the log file.
  5. Additional predefined wiping schemes in BCWipe v.4: Wiping Scheme Editor now has the capability to create complementary passes.

  6. BCWipe v.4 supports the latest versions of common Internet browsers (e.g., Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Opera) and can wipe a full set of related items (e.g., saved passwords, last active tabs, search history).

  7. Special Log Viewer utility.

Log Viewer is a convenient tool to survey the log file generated by wiping process. With Log Viewer users can monitor the wiping process while it is running. It is possible to customize view by hiding/showing columns. Log Viewer can filter the file by selected text string or highlight all the strings containing the selected text. For Transparent Wiping the Log Viewer reports the process that initiated the deletion.

  8. Enhanced functionality of the task Wipe local History (former 'Clear recently used file lists'). New items are added in the task to clear more traces: User Assist, Find History, Preferences History, etc. Unique feature of the function is that BCWipe allows the user to view detailed information about every entry in, for example, Find History list, that can be wiped. Besides, every such entry can be wiped without deleting the whole list.

  9. The user interface of Delete with wiping task has been enhanced to provide more information about wiping statistics during the wiping process.

  10. Automatic Update utility

  11. BCWipe v.4 supports Windows 7 operating system.
