BCWipe Task Manager
The BCWipe system includes BCWipe Task Manager utility. The utility allows user to
configure BCWipe to run wiping tasks automatically.
You can set a time for running the task, as well as special options for the task.
For example, you can configure BCWipe to wipe free space of all your hard drives at midnight every
Friday and use US DoD 5200.28-STD wiping standard for the process.
You can run BCWipe Task Manager from BCWipe program folder. Main window of the programs looks like the
following picture:
The picture illustrates 4 tasks that will be run by BCWipe automatically. You can create as many tasks as
you wish by running Create New Task command from the menu.
There are also the following commands in the menu:
Start task now. Select some task from the list of tasks and run the command
if you wish to run the wiping process right now.
Delete. Use the command to remove selected task from BCWipe Task Manager.
Properties. Run the command to change properties of the selected task,
for example, to change schedule for the task or wiping options.
There are four types of wiping tasks:
Delete with wiping. Create task of this type to make BCWipe wipe some selected
files or folders automatically according to a schedule.
Wipe free space. Using this type of task you can configure BCWipe to wipe free space
on some hard drive partition or on a set of partitions.
Wipe special folders. Windows creates Special System Folders for different
purposes,
for example, for temporary Internet files or cookies. Such folders cannot be deleted or wiped in a usual way,
because the operating system keeps them locked. You can configure BCWipe Task Manager so that the utility
will automatically wipe selected folders at the time when the folders are not locked, i.e. when Windows starts up.
Wipe recently used records. You can configure BCWipe Task Manager
to clear the list of Recently Used Files for selected programs.
The function may be useful because of security reasons. For example, you can configure BCWipe to
clear the list of recently opened MS Word documents,
so if someone occasionally runs MS Word program, he/she will not be able to determine what documents you worked on.
