Updated BCWipe Can Permanently Delete Files On Storage Spaces In Less Time
HELSINKI, Finland - October 4, 2012 – Jetico, leaders in military-standard data protection, has announced that their popular BCWipe software to permanently delete files will now support Windows 8. This update to Jetico's state of the art wiping software features a time-saving solution to wipe free space on Storage Spaces - introduced in the new operating system to combine multiple hard drives into a single virtual drive.
Jetico CEO Michael Waksman proclaims, "BCWipe is ready to go for Windows 8. So if you're considering an upgrade to the new operating system, you can continue to rely on the world's most powerful and trusted utility to wipe sensitive data. This update to version 6 is available free of charge to any customer with an active BCWipe license."
In addition to the ability to securely erase files, BCWipe offers a convenient solution to wipe free space on Storage Spaces. Once the command is launched, BCWipe reads the disk configuration and analyzes Windows in order to exclude from the wiping process all unallocated space (or the unused portion of free space). BCWipe now only needs to run on the allocated free space, which may contain sensitive information.
In other words, as Mr. Waksman explains, "Less space to clean means less time spent waiting for the wiping process to finish."
"Despite the complicated disk structures that form Storage Spaces, BCWipe is still very simple - just as you would for a standard disk, you will easily be able to wipe selected files and free space on Storage Spaces."
Engineered for a wide range of users, the power of BCWipe brings peace of mind to Information Assurance personnel clearing classified data and basic users at home protecting their personal privacy. The program comes built with U.S. Department of Defense (DoD 5220.22-M) and U.S. Department of Energy (DoE M 205.1-2) standards, plus a number of other popular wiping standards.
BCWipe - Enterprise Edition
For central management of wiping activities, Jetico also offers an Enterprise Edition of BCWipe. In addition to centralized deployment and monitoring, BCWipe - Enterprise Edition features Enforcer to remotely wipe selected data without end-user intervention. With this tool wiping tasks are invisible to end-users and can be run without the user being logged in.
